Wow. Seriously? That’s like the subject matter for at least 2 books. But I’ll take a summary stab at a couple of things.
A. The Gettysburg Address is possibly the single most memorable speech in American History.
B. Lincoln’s assignation effectively guaranteed harsh reprisals for the South, and allowed the era of carpetbagger reconstruction.
C. The Emancipation proclamation was just a pr move. It only freed slaves in the confederacy(which was what all the fighting was over anyway) where the union had no power to enforce the proclamation. It nominally undermined the confederacy and encouraged slaves to come join Union forces.
D. self-expanatory. If the states had not seceded, there would have been no civil war.
E. Ended the war. In addition provisions allowed Southern soldiers to return home with horses and rations and or pay. reprisals came later, after Lincoln’s death.
F. Choking out the south by withering the supplies and arms from crucial ports like Savannah and Vicksburg.
G. A focal point in Naval History.
H. Not that significant, except as a moral victory.
I. Grant was willing to accept high casualities, if victory could be achieved( unlike his predescessor, George McClellan). His approach, combined with the overwhelming force of numbers turned the tide against Lee at crucial late battles of the war.
