People who know fabric: I need your help!…?

I want to find cotton yardage. Not just ANY cotton. I want the kind of cotton that was used to make an old pillowcase (ca. 1910) I happen to have.

It’s dense, and soft, and creamy, and falls into curved folds. The weave is plain (not a twill or a jacquard), and is extrememly close. It’s the cotton equivalent of silk slipper satin, if that makes any sense.

I’ve been all over looking for it for years, and all I’ve ever been offered is half-polyester blends (ugh), cheap muslin or miserable broadcloth.

Where does one find excellent fabric yardage? There MUST be a source!

I think you are thinking of the old muslin which is 100% cotton. Don’t forget back then they ironed and starched the pillowcases and sheets, which I am sure over the years gave them that softness. You might be able to find some old muslin sheets at yard sales and then make your pillowcases. I am on my last set of muslin sheets so I am going to have to hunt for some too.
