Does anyone sand their golf grips to keep them tacky?

I remember reading a while back that some Pga Tour pros sand their golf grips to keep them in shape. But, I can’t remember exactly how they said they do it.

James –

I sand my grips about three times a year. It’s pretty easy, just take a square of gritty sandpaper, and work it up and down the grip….you’ll want to do it over a trash can or outside because it kind of makes a mess.

Then immediately after sanding the grips wash them with dish washing soap and scrub them with a nylon brush.

They’ll feel like new for a few rounds….touch them up weekly with the nylong brush and the soap….your grips will last a LOT longer if you follow this procedure.
