Can you help me with these 5 Math Problems?
I posted this question in “Mathematics” but didn’t get any fast results, so now im going to post them here…… Please label all of your problems and explain how to do each problem so that i know how to do it next time. Thanks.
1. Sixty percent of the horses were shod. If there were 240 horses on the ranch, how many of them were not shod?
2. The ratio of reds to greens is 5 to 11. There are 1024 marbles in the bucket. How many of them are green?
3. If darci deposited $3600 in the bank at 6 percent intrest compounded annually, how much money would she have at the end of two years?
4. John bought a new golf putter for $42 after it had been marked down 30 percent. What was the original price?
5. -4x -7 = -2x -19
Q1) Answer = 96
240 = 100% of horses.
2.4 = 1% of horses.
60% of horses were shod. 40% were not.
40×2.4 = 40% of horses = percentage of horses not shod = 96.
Q2) Answer: 704.
For every 5 Reds there are 11 Greens. We must therefore count in batches of (5+11) = 16
total number of batches = 1024 / 16 = 64
therefore there are 64 lots of 11 gren marbles = 64 x 11 = 704
Q3) Answer $4044.96
$3600 = 100%
$3600 / 100 = 1% of $3600 = $36
6 x $36 = 6% of $3600 = $216
amount at end of first year = $3600 + $216 = 3816
$3816 / 100 = $38.16
$38.16 x 6 = $228.96
amount at end of second year = $3816 + $228.96 = $4044.96
Q4) Answer: $60
100%-30% = reduced price of new golf putter = 70% = $42
$42 / 70 = 1% of original price = $0.60.
original price of golf putter = 100% = 100 x $0.6 = $60
Q5) Answer: 6=x
-4x – 7 = -2x – 19
add 4x to both sides: -7 = 2x -19
add 19 to both sides 12=2x
divide both side by 2 6=x
I hope this helps. I know I’ve written it out quite a long winded way, but I always found it helped me to think through things this way when I was at school
