MONUMENTS AND PLACES OF VIEW to see in Mumbai:
Taj Mahal Hotel: One of the most famous city and one of the best hotels in India. Built in 1903 by JN Tata, the hotel has an old and a new wing. The wing is age more expensive and more larger than the new wing. The best thing to do in the old wing is the large central staircase.
India Gate: This structure was built during the visit of King George V in 1911. It is now a popular landmark of the city and a gathering place for residents
Flora Fountain: This fountain is named after the Roman god of wealth, was erected in 1869 in honor of Sir Bartle Frere, who was responsible for the construction of Mumbai today. Now, he shares the area with a monument dedicated to those who died fighting to carve the state of Maharashtra.
University of Bombay and the Supreme Court: That during the construction boom of the 1860s and '70s more Victorian buildings were built, which was designed by Gilbert Scott and resembles an Italian 15th century building.
Marine Drive: Built in 1920, Marine Drive along the coast of the Arabian Sea, Society and State Library Central Library, Mumbai Nariman Point past Chowpatty Malabar Hill. Marine Drive is a dramatic curve street lights at night, with the name of the Queen's Necklace. It is better to look at night when the light of the upper floors of tall buildings nearby.
ChowpattyBeach: It's part of life in Mumbai. During the India tour, the beach is where most local theater takes place Chowpatty. Political rallies, shooting, Bee Bee-gun, charming snakes and roundabouts. Chowpatty is most famous for Bhel-Puri and special chat.
Victoria Terminus: The Gothic building looks more exotic a palace in a train station. Designed by Frederick Stevens and was completed in 1887, has carvings of monkeys, peacocks and lions mixed with domes, arrows and stained glass. There are also life-size statue of Queen Victoria placed in the center front.
Mani Bhavan: This is where Mahatma Gandhi stayed during his visits to Mumbai. Its rooms have remained intact and there is an exhibition of photographs of his life. It is open every day from nine h 30-18h00 and entrance is free.
Juhu: during a trip to India, Juhu, Mumbai, that attracts most tourists. The beach is 5 km long, which is lined with coconut trees and palms. There is also a popular picnic area with food stalls, toy sellers, sellers of fruit, walking round and soothsayers. The beach has plenty of foreign tourists and residents to enjoy the fresh air or playing cricket.
Crawford Market: This market is the wholesale market for flowers, fruits, vegetables, meats and fish. This structure relieves style Norman Gothic by Lockwood Kipling, father of Rudyard Kipling. South of Market is the JJ School of Arts. This is where Rudyard Kipling was born and now his place of birth is the residence the Dean.
Haji Ali Mosque: This early 18th century shrine contains the tomb of Haji Ali HAZRATH, a Muslim Sufi saint. There are two local legends which claim reconstruct the history of hazrath.
Dhobi Ghats: This is where all clothing is washed in Mumbai. This municipal laundry Mahalaxmi is where nearly 5,000 men beat dirt in clothes brought from the city. There are outdoor bins, used for washing. You can get a good view of the bridge over the Mahalaxmi railway station.
